Hagens Berman filed a class-action lawsuit against American Honda Motor Company, alleging it sold 2022–2023 Civic models with defective electronic power steering (EPS). The complaint claims the EPS can fail abruptly and under various driving conditions, causing loss of steering control at high speeds. The NHTSA opened a preliminary investigation after receiving 145 reports of a "momentary increase in steering effort," described as "sticky steering," which could prevent avoiding a road hazard.
