About this case

MDI and TDI are precursor chemicals for polyurethane foams and thermoplastic polyurethanes used in many consumer products (e.g., mattresses, car seats, refrigerator insulation). Plaintiffs allege Covestro, BASF, Dow, Huntsman, and Wanhua conspired to inflate U.S. MDI/TDI prices by coordinating production tightening and uniform price increases from at least Jan. 1, 2016 to the present. After defeating defendants’ motion to dismiss in early 2020, the court found the claims viable and the case is now in discovery against the five defendants. Judge Donetta Ambrose (W.D. Pa.) appointed Hausfeld’s Megan E. Jones as interim co-lead counsel for the class.
