About this case

Teva Pharmaceuticals, Granules USA, and Heritage Pharmaceuticals will fund a $5.55 million class settlement resolving allegations that their metformin products were contaminated with NDMA, a probable human carcinogen. The release covers purchasers of those metformin products from July 20, 2015 through June 2, 2020, including generics of Glucophage and Glucophage XR. The companies deny liability; Teva is contributing $3 million and Granules and Heritage $2.55 million. Class members may claim cash awards based on documented purchase amounts and the number of approved claims. Requests to opt out or object, and completed claim forms, must be submitted by July 10, 2026. A final approval hearing is scheduled for August 12, 2026.
