Hagens Berman has filed a class-action lawsuit on behalf of people who purchased homeowners insurance for a home in Washington state since 2017. The complaint alleges Exxon Mobil, Shell Oil, Chevron, BP, ConocoPhillips and the American Petroleum Institute may have systematically conspired in a large misinformation campaign to conceal their contributions to climate change. Plaintiffs’ attorneys contend that, while these oil interests profit, ordinary homeowners have been left to shoulder rising homeowners insurance premiums driven by weather-related impacts.
