In June 2023, attackers exploited a security flaw in MOVEit, the managed file-transfer software owned by Progress Software, to steal highly sensitive personal data from more than 600 organizations worldwide. The breach is estimated to have affected about 40 million people and exposed information from over 30 educational institutions, hundreds of companies, and some government agencies.
